[Bug c/17674] gcc generates invalid *.s code.

SET_ASM_OP is not defined for linux or alpha-linux, you must have a local patch installed.
And ASM_OUTPUT_DEF is defined as:
#define ASM_OUTPUT_DEF(FILE, ALIAS, NAME)                       \
  do {                                                          \
    assemble_name(FILE, ALIAS);                                 \
    fputs(" = ", FILE);                                         \
    assemble_name(FILE, NAME);                                  \
    fputc('\n', FILE);                                          \
  } while (0)


Which is what you said it should be.
