I regret to report that apparently I am a crackpot. :-)
My original build directory had gotten reused multiple times while I worked
to get gcc-3.4.1 built originally, and then got deleted.
I now have spent the last two days attempting to reproduce the problem for
you, and find that I cannot. Several steenkin' variations and every one of
them got past the failure point with no problems. I guess you can close out
this report and I will be more careful after the next release appears. :-)
