This not forgotten, but DOM is about to go away entirely thanks to Diego.
When this bug still exists after DOM is gone, Ben Elliston's work to make
edges a vector instead of a list will make it much much easier to fix this
bug.
This bug is the reason for a lot of slowness in various machine generated
files, including insn-attrtab for example.
