Gaby, I'm assigning this to you. I have reproduced the seg
fault on i686-pc-linux-gnu with 3.0.4, 3.1 pre, 3.2 exp,
/not/ with 2.95.3. Therefore, if you can confirm that the
code is indeed legal this is a serious regression.
