There seems to be a regression in optimized builds of 3.0.1. The
testsuites have shown an increased number of g++ failures. See, e.g.,

In addition, the problems with -fomit-frame-pointer and optimization

3374 3480 3710 and 3754).
Hope this can be dealt with before the next release.
