Bus error in the linker, possibly caused by tail-calls

I know that isn't the most informative subject line ever.
Current CVS gcc+binutils cannot create static binaries on Solaris 8.
GNU ld dies with a bus error. A stack trace of the core was posted to
the binutils list. The response is here, along with the trace:
http://sources.redhat.com/ml/binutils/2000-10/msg00192.html
Part of the response quoted here, just to be speedy:
Yes, it says you have a gcc problem (if gdb is to be believed).
Probably something to do with tail-calls. The format string pointer
ought to have been passed unchanged from einfo to vinfo.
I can't do anything with GNATS, so I'll ask: is this a known bug?
Is anyone looking at it?
phil
