It's from the kernel sources, and it seems that some changes have been
made recently in Linux 2.3.* that have rendered them incompatible with
glibc 2.1.2.  So, if you install such a kernel, you'd better install a
development version of glibc too, which is supposed to be compatible
with the new kernel.
