G77 INSTALLATION PROBLEM under Linux

Dear Sirs,

To whome can help me....

I have installed pgcc-1.1.1 compilers on a Acer Extensa T712 computer,

following the procedure:

     tar xvpzf pgcc-1.1.1-linux-glibc.tar.gz -C /

     tar xvpzf pg77-1.1.1-linux-x86-glibc.tar.gz -C /

It seems that everithing is gone in the right way.

At the end of installation I have a directory

  usr/i586-pc-linux-gnu

containing the compilers.

Unfortunately when I tried to use the fortran (g77) compiler I received
an error:

f77: installation problem, cannot exec `f771': No such file or directory

In the following there is the response to the command:

        f77 -v

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

g77 version pgcc-2.91.60 19981201 (egcs-1.1.1 release) (from FSF-g77 version 0.5.24-19980804)

Using builtin specs.

Unfortunately I'm a novice on Linux and I don't know how to solve
the problem.

Is there some one that can help me?

                             best regards
