what is makeinfo

Hi there,
When I install egcs I carefully follow the 4 steps you submit and in the
last step, to install egcs using "make install", I got the following
error.
makeinfo -I. -o cpp.info ./cpp.texi
sh: makeinfo: not found
*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `cpp.info'
In fact, I'm not very clear of what "makeinfo" is after I check Makefile
which defines "MAKEINFO = makeinfo". Of course there's no such a
command called "makeinfo" in unix.
Information of my workstation is as below:
SunOS gucws03o 5.6 Generic_105181-03 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-5_10
