No I did not.

 I am trying to understand
if spu-elf supports shared libraries.  If so, doesn't it need -fPIC?
If not, shouldn't --disable-shared be used and shouldn't that stop
the use of -fPIC?

spu-elf does not support shared libraries at least yet.
