Well, I didn't mention that, but I ran the performance testsuite + some
tests run by hand + inspected the tree-level dumps and everything is
going very well, no noticeable regressions. Really, I'm rather confident
there are no performance risks. Believe me, during the last weeks,
intermittently I tried hard to figure out something else, but since we
don't have no-warning pragmas I didn' make progress...
