You really should set CONFIG_SHELL to /bin/ksh in your environment
before running "configure; make bootstrap".  It makes a world of
difference when configuring the target libs WRT speed.  Though I
realize testing your patch probably made more sense with /bin/sh
instead since that's where the bug was more obvious. :-)
