It does happen, rather too often.

OK.  Wow, so if I rename a file, I keep the dates.  If I copy a file
exactly, I assume I keep the dates?  It's a *copy*right after all.
But, if I copy it and then I modify it I drop the old dates.  Makes
no sense to me, but that's hardly here nor there.  Patch coming.
