Thanks Benjamin. Indeed, I'm confident that the patch is safe and it
would be not that difficult to revert it in the unfortunate case that
some problems will surface before the release.
However, on the gcc-patches list Gerald expressed some perplexities,
essentially due to the closeness of the release (to be honest the patch
does not fix any bug, only a performance regression wrt v2 in some
specific circumstances) and therefore CC-ed Mark about this. I guess I
had better to wait a bit more for his opinion...
