There is a trick to bootstrapping on Solaris, and I believe it's documented
somwhere
on the web pages.
You need to use GNU binutils, and you need to either have it in your target
installation
directory (your --prefix directory ) or specify their location explicitly on
the gcc
configure command line (it's what, --with-gnu-ld=/opt/gnu/bin er something).
The Solaris ld
just won't put out.
