Yes, it did.  But, I'm not sure it went away in a good way.

In particular, I think it went away because the mishmash in my tree
caused me to be emitting definitions of those functions.  I have the
odd feeling that if you forced that to happen in some other way (say,
by taking their address), that we might have the exact same problem.
