My name is Michael Pepper. I am partner in a retained search firm.  I am currently recruiting for a position that may be of some interest.  Here is the description:
 
 

Senior Software Engineer

Job overview: Manage the design of system software to control custom automation hardware using common design tools such as C++. Manage the planning, scheduling, defining functional requirements, implementation, design test plans, and diagnostics of SW modules. Provide technical and managerial guidance to SW engineers on MCP program. Responsible for day to day management of all SW deliverables. Manage s/w system architectures and implementation of relevant designs. Provide required documentation to all support levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage SW architecture of complex bio-medical instrument.
  • Responsible for writing, testing and release of SW for instrument control
  • Manage new product life cycle from inception through production.
  • Management of SW processes and lead SW instrumentation engineering team
  • Follow SW processes and directions that come from VP of SW.

Required qualifications:

  • The candidate must have at least 6 years of experience in the relevant areas.
  • BS or higher in Computer Science, Applied Physics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong programming skills, proven industrial experience working with Visual C++/MFC, LabView SW, and ability to design and implement object oriented system software. The individual must be capable of managing effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Experience with data acquisition, system control through RS-232, low level I/O, and PC hardware is required.

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience with medical, bio-medical instrumentation or semi-conductor equipment control. Firmware and LabView experience is preferred. Knowledge of CMM processes is a plus.
