hash_map memory usage

I'm not sure if this is the right mailing list to use, or
whether this should go to -prs, but I'm not sure this is a
problem, so I decided to send the note here.

We're using egcs-2.91.60 under Linux and are having problem (we think)
with hash_map. The memory usage seems very high. Is
this a known problem, or is there some way to limit the
growth of the map (buckets seems to get resized a lot).

Again, we're not certain the problem is in hash_map
(we're trying to track things down). Are there any known
memory problems in the 2.91.60 version of libstdc++?

We will keep investigating and report our results.
