old headers (<*.h>)

I still need to know what to do about this.

If libstdc++-v3 is going to define symlinks (or real headers) for these,
then maybe the best choice for popular libraries and applications will be
to use the old headers, for compatibility with older compilers.

On the other hand, it might be better to use the new headers and tell
users of old compilers that they should create links.

This might have to be decided separately for each header and I think this
is an important decision that applies to many projects.  Because of that
(and because I want to get an overview myself), I am collecting information
on assembling a "libstdc++-v3-porting-howto".

I hope to get information about the libstdc++-implementations of various
compilers, give some help for decision of when to use the new headers,
what to do about portable use of namespaces, and some hints on autoconf-
tests (such as those used by Gtk--).

I would actually like to write it: gives me a chance to learn docbook.
So please submit any information you think should you go in there
either to my email-address or to this list for discussion (is this okay
with the developers ?).
