This is now in. Thanks to everybody who helped out on this! I believe 
that these targets are now working correctly:

i386-unknown-freebsd3.4
i686-unknown-freebsd3.4
i386-unknown-freebsd4.2
i386-unknown-freebsd5.0

which is pretty cool....
