I'll take a few stabs at writing it up. If I don't get anywhere with those, I just post the damn
scripts.
I know exactly where you are coming from and I have great sympathy for your position, having been
there myself. There are quite a few little gotchas that took me a while to get past before I
could compile and run even the simplest little java program, let alone manage the compiling and
linking of a large number of java classes with a lot of interdependence. Most of those gotchas
had to do with the fact that I was not very familiar with the gnu compiler collection (even though
I have been a full time linux user / programmer for several years now) and I was slow to ask for
help on mailing lists. Developer mailing lists are a godsend.
Feel free to bug me about it by email in case I get very busy and don't post the scripts in about
two days.
