Could you describe the actual technology?

The last time I looked, the kaffe JIT was fairly primitive. Even the
new `jit3' I looked at recently also seemed pretty simple.

If you look at the performance page I posted, you'll see there is a
huge difference between the best JITs (IBM, HotSpot, ORP) and kaffe.
This is one of the reasons I'm not very interested in trying to
integrate kaffe.

If things have changed, I'd like to know about it. It's possible,
even likely, that I misunderstood the code I was looking at.

Hi,
The new JIT is jit4. It does outperform JIT3.

The cvsweb URL is
http://www.kaffe.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/pocketlinux/XOE_1.0/src/kaffe-all/src/kaffe/kaffevm/jit4/

I have no idea what the redistribution license is. That's the Transvirtual specific version of Kaffe I'm pointing you to. The download link is easy to find on the kaffe.org site.

One should contact Jim Pick (jim@jimpick.com) to get in touch with the JIT4 implementor for technical details.

Best Regards,
