I upgraded the box to Debian sid/unstable which contained a newer
binutils, but I am not hundred percent sure that was it since I also
updated some other packages. Anyway, I now seem to get sane results:

The failures are:
FAIL: Array_3 execution from source compiled test
FAIL: Array_3 execution from bytecode->native test
FAIL: Array_3 -O execution from source compiled test

FAIL: test_long output from bytecode->native test
FAIL: test_long -O output from bytecode->native test
