I've checked in my (revised) patch.  Those two tests now seem to do
the right thing.  Could you verfify that this is the case, and if so
check the tests into the testsuite, and close the PRs?

The testsuit results did improve a bit, so it is possible the
testsuite already contains tests for these problems.  However,
skimming quickly through the XPASS tests, nothing seemed likely.
