Just out of curiosity, does this mean that this:
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/java-patches/2004-q1/msg00008.html
...is out of the question for 3.4? It gives a >50%
speed improvement, passes Mauve and seems pretty
straightforward, but obviously is not a bugfix and
hasn't been tried and tested as much as the existing
codebase.
