Ian,
   So do we want to create a new simple-object-lto.c to handle this, so that the
code can be used from other object formats, or should we just shoehorn the new code
into simple-object-mach-o.c? I am unclear if any target besides darwin is currently
using lto/lto-object.c The comment in that file...

made me wonder if that was the case now that cygwin/mingw have plugin support.
