I'll be submitting result for that around noon your time tomorrow-
Right now I am testing vanilla GCC and patched FreeBSD libelf, my
tester is just rather slow.

Yes, that sounds like a good plan provided my testing shows the
expected benefit.  After all, existing FreeBSD installations do
have the older FreeBSD libelf, so whatever we can address in GCC
will be helpful.
