Robert, 

You're proving my point.  Dave has completely confused the issue.

Had you looked at the bug report we're talking about, you would have
seen that it is a loop versioning bug papered over with a wrong fix.

It has absolutely _noting_ to do with unitialized variables or undefined
behavior.  Nothing.  Zilch.  Zero.
