where the compilation process stops in gcc


Hi,
   i would like to know where the compilation process ends in gcc i mean
   in which 'file'.from the documentation of gcc it should end some where
   in toplev.c as it controls every pass.but i am not sure. i couldn't find that from gprof.i need this to build the operational
 profile for the gcc (cc1) compiler.i will be glad if anyone can help me
 out.thanx in advance.
