While GCC isn't as popular as Linux for consumers, it is a mainstream topic for those who build free and research software.


I could make a case that most real users don't care much about Linux; what they see is their word processor, or spreadsheet, or e-mail program, not Linux and GCC and GNU tools and KDE or Gnome.

Kerneltrap condenses and refines information from the kernel mailing list and other resources, making it easier for non-kernel developers to understand what is going on and how it affects them. Something similar could be of value to GCC.
