No `port' is necessary, they should just work.

Well, when I try to run the testsuite inside my objdir like 'make -k

Mike meant that the software doesn't need to be ported, because it already
has been ported; you do need to install it. You haven't installed
"expect", which is required by dejagnu.

Oh, I understand. But I have some different information than what Mike is saying. A while ago I was in need of dejagnu on Darwin 6.8/ppc (Mac OS 10.2.8) so I tried to install it and everything it needs. The current version of expect from this time (5.40.0) was not aware of Darwin:

[Lars-Sonchocky-Helldorfs-Computer:Projekte/dejaGNU/expect-5.40] lars% ./configure --disable-shared --with-tcl=/opt/local/lib/ --with-tclinclude=/Volumes/Data/Projekte/darwinports/dports/lang/tcl/ work/tcl8.4.5/generic/ --prefix=/opt/test/
configuring Expect 5.40.0
checking for autoconf... yes
checking configure up to date... yes
checking host system type... Invalid configuration `powerpc-apple-darwin6.8': system `darwin6.8' not recognized

checking target system type... Invalid configuration `powerpc-apple-darwin6.8': system `darwin6.8' not recognized

checking build system type... Invalid configuration `powerpc-apple-darwin6.8': system `darwin6.8' not recognized

I got in contact with the Author of expect and he even happened to have a Mac :-) but he didn't figure out how to install the developer tools on it. I told him how to do it and never heard from him again ... this was in february this year. So I assumed nothing has changed so far.

regards, Lars
