That's correct. Apple is not currently supporting g77.

Is there a reason for that ? From what I hear around me it would be handy having *a* Fortran compiler installed by default on MacOS X,

This comes from up at least 2 levels of management, and none of the people who post here have
authority to change it. Presumably they have a reason (my guess, the main consideration is
just lack of resources, a perception that everybody has more important things to work on).


even if the "preferred" compiler is some proprietary one that has to be bought and installed separately.

We're quite interested in SPEC numbers just now, and some of the SPECs are Fortran 95, and
there is no g95. When there is, things may (I said *may*) be different...
