With this naming (without the version number in the file name), if you
download snapshot files from both mainline and 3.3 branch into the same
directory you end up with various files with names such as
gcc-20030709.tar.bz2 and gcc-20030707.tar.bz2, with no indication that
those files are from different branches. I think names such as
gcc-3.4-20030709.tar.bz2 would be better (and likewise in the directory
names in the tarballs).
