We lost for GCC 3.0 and GCC 3.1, now again for GCC 3.3 (and substantially
so), but any further slowdown, and be it just 1% simply is not acceptable,
at least as far as I am concerned.
And that's not because of this very program, but because it is indicative
of a wide range of C++ programs.
