Here's a tested rewrite rule:
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} .*cmd=view.*pr=(\d+)
RewriteRule ^.*gnatsweb.pl.* /bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=%1

current gnatsweb breaking), but there's some problem. Let me
investigate.
It works okay on dberlin.org, but i'm apache 2.0.

Try http://dberlin.org/cgi-bin/gnatsweb.pl?cmd=view&pr=500
For instance.

If you guys have virtual hosts set up, it needs to be *in* the virtual
host config for gcc. Or at least, for apache 2.0, it wasn't working at
all outside of the VirtualHost i have setup.

Yes, I had done all that.

Anyway, Rewrite* is not what we really want here; rather, we ought to
use RedirectMatch.

Unfortunately, I failed to get that working on gcc.gnu.org; today'
certainly not may day concerning web configs. :-(

Any idea what's wrong about the following (ignore the too liberal pattern
for the PR number for now)?

RedirectMatch permanent ^/cgi-bin/gnatsweb.*view.*pr=.*$ http://dberlin.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=$3

You are probably hitting what i hit.
the URL is gnatsweb.pl
The rest is part of the environment variable QUERY_STRING.
When I asked if one can use RedirectMatch + the query string, I was told
"No the query string is stripped out before any matching takes place. Don't try to match it."

That's why i had the RewriteCond + RewriteRule, because mod_rewrite lets you access the query_string.
