Re: CVS repository downtime this weekend

2-3 hours doesn't sound like the end of the world. Why don't we
simply schedule some downtime every weekend, during which time the huge
weekly-tag-snapshot scripts and whatnot can run?
BTW, why does the GCC snapshot process bother to tag the repository?

Other projects identify their snaps with ``YYYYMMDD'' and that, somewhat suprisingly, indicates that it was checked out using ``-D YYYY-MM-DD-gmt'' :-) No tag required.

Constant re-taging is also CVSup unfriendly. It goes into ``slow mode'' whenever a new tag is introduced on an otherwize unchanged file.

enjoy,
Andrew
