Howdy, I was able to build and install GCC on my Debian woody powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu system. Here are the requested details: $ ../gcc-3.1/config.guess powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu $ ../local/bin/gcc -v Reading specs from ../local/bin/../lib/gcc-lib/powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu/3.1/specs Configured with: ../gcc-3.1/configure --prefix=/home/kraai/dev/gcc/local Thread model: single gcc version 3.1 $ cat /etc/issue Debian GNU/\s 3.0 \n \l $ uname -r 2.4.16-newpmac $ dpkg -l libc6 Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed |/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Description +++-==========================-==========================-==================================================================== ii libc6 2.2.5-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries and Timezone data Contrary to the host/target specific installation notes[1], I didn't need to upgrade my binutils to 2.12.90.0.7. The 2.12.90.0.1-4 Debian package worked fine. Matt 1. http://gcc.gnu.org/install/specific.html#powerpc-*-linux-gnu*
