       I have in the past proposed that GNU C be extended to allow
       expressions to be prefixed with `__no_warn__'.


This would be really ugly/awkward for library interfaces that give
clients a `void *' rock as a function parameter or structure field.
It would imply that proper usage of such interfaces would always
require `__no_warn__'.

Not that warning-supressing pragmas or macros are bad -- just that
they don't entirely solve the underlying problem.
