- Subject: Treelang frontend
The GCC Steering Committee has decided to
put the treelang frontend into CVS, but do not include it in the
default list of languages that is built. (This means that unless
it's specifically asked for it doesn't build.)
It can be excluded from the release tarball, or not, whatever seems
best, but we would not expect the release manager to spend any cycles
on it.
To explain this (my words, not the ones of the steering committee), there
has been a broad range of opinions concerning treelang, and the bottom-line
was that it is nice to have as a form of documentation, but it should not
cause additional efforts during the release process, for example. (Having
it in the regular CVS tree, however, was considered much better than
having it available in form of patches somewhere else.)
In case you're now asking, ``What's treelang?'', I am sure Tim Josling
<tej@melbpc.org.au>, the maintainer of the treelang frontend will happily
provide further details! ;-)
