Snapshots with gcc_release script

I propose to make the snapshot process run from gccadmin using the new
gcc_release script, replacing the old csh script currently in use
(contrib/snapshot run from law's crontab) (and, in the process, create at
least one snapshot as part of testing). Does anyone have any comments or
objections?
