The site http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc_19.html#SEC190 suggested I
email this address with documentation questions.
I am looking for documentation on how to use the gcc front-end with a
custom back-end to create a language translator - I wish to use gcc
to translate ANSI C to another language. Ideally I want a list of files
in the gcc distribution that I can use for this so I can eliminate the
extra files for other front/back-ends and begin working with just a C
front-end. In other words, I'm not sure where to split the front-end
off of gcc for a translator. Since I would like to preserve
variable/function names in the translation it would seem I might need to
make the split earlier in the process than if I were just writing a
back-end, for example, to target an architecture not supported by gcc.
Any documentation of using gcc for such a translator would be very
helpful. Thank you.
