It's not so much a rationale as rather knowing that it doesn't always
work correctly. Unfortunately, I never ran into such problems myself,
so I cannot speak from experience. However, everytime someone reports a
build problem while building inside the source directory, we tend to ask
first to redo the build outside of it.
