I agree they should simply stay deprecated. Undocumented extensions (as
multi-line strings AFAIK have been in all releases) are subject to change
or deprecation, and should not be relied on. If you want to use such a
feature, it's best so submit a patch to document it, and then it can be
considered whether we do in fact want to make it a documented feature -
but don't rely on it until it's documented in an actual release as a
non-deprecated feature, since extensions that have only appeared or been
documented in development versions may also be subject to change.
