I tried using the prerease compiler to build version 3.3 of ddd. It
dies in the configure step at:
configure:1679: checking whether the C++ compiler (/usr/bin/g++) compiles a simp
le program
configure:1700: /usr/bin/g++ -o conftest -O3 -march=i686 -ffast-math -funroll-lo
ops -fomit-frame-pointer -fforce-mem -fforce-addr -malign-jumps=3 -malign-loops=
3 -malign-functions=3 -mpreferred-stack-boundary=3 -fpermissive conftest.C 1>
&5
configure:1694:22: iostream.h: No such file or directory
configure: In function `int main()':
configure:1696: `cout' undeclared (first use this function)
configure:1696: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each
function it appears in.)
configure: failed program was:
#line 1693 "configure"
#include "confdefs.h"
#include <iostream.h>
int main() {
cout << "hello, world!";
; return 0; }
The problem is iostream.h, which is in /usr/include/g++-v3. When I
manually add -I/usr/include/g++-v3 to CXXFLAGS, I get
configure:1700: /usr/bin/g++ -o conftest -O3 -march=i686 -ffast-math -funroll-loops -fomit-frame-pointer -fforce-mem -fforce-addr -malign-jumps=3 -malign-loops=3 -malign-functions=3 -mpreferred-stack-boundary=3 -fpermissive -I/usr/include/g++-v3 conftest.C 1>&5

Doesn't/Shouldn't 3.0 set a default include path for g++ that makes
sense? Also there seems to be a problem with the include files.
