I cannot find any reference to -MG in the current glibc sources. If it
was ever used then it has been already removed.
Well, Geoff was close. It's indeed used by the Hurd in the "hurd"
sources itself.
Since I'm no Makefile wizard, I'm not sure if there is a viable
alternative to using -MG. Roland McGrath (CC'ed here) can probably
shine some light on it.
By the way, if you wonder where a particular obscure GNU extention is
used, the answer will very likely be: in the Hurd (or the
Hurd-psecific parts of glibc).
