Oops, despite the Subject of this mail (and thread), I am not speaking
about SPEC95.  I'm interested in trying out the new-regalloc-branch (in
sofar as it does not interfere with my duties as GNU Fortran
maintainer).

I noticed a (coding) problem yesterday [ that happened to rear its ugly
head on Alpha ] - in ra.c.

The snag that I ran into today is that the new-regalloc-branch won't
bootstrap on Alpha, but for a different reason.

I want to understand this failure first, before proceeding ...
