Please don't cross post this.
Yes, this is possible. I've done it with current sources, for c/c++ at least.
You'll need a configure line like this, and recent gcc and binutils sources:
/mnt/hd/bliss/src.pei-idt-sources/configure --with-gcc-version-trigger=/mnt/hd/bliss/src.pei-idt-sources/gcc/version.c -v --host=i686-pc-linux-gnulibc2.2 --build=i686-pc-linux-gnulibc2.2 --target=powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu --prefix=/mnt/hd/bliss/H-x86-x-powerpc-pei-idt-sources --exec-prefix=/mnt/hd/bliss/H-x86-x-powerpc-pei-idt-sources/H-i686-pc-linux-gnulibc2.2 --enable-libstdcxx-v3 --enable-threads=posix --with-sysroot=/mnt/hd/ahimsa/powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu-sysroot --norecursion
Please read the manual before you attempt this. It's available on-line here:
