GNU Compiler license

Hello,

I am a marketing product manager at Accelerated Technology, an embedded software company. We are very interested in obtaining the proper license for the GNU compilers for several different processor families. The problem is, we don’t know how to go about this.

Our plan is to ship the GNU compilers on our CD integrated with our development tools. We are building a front end IDE that will be integrated with the different GNU compilers.

This brings up several questions:

First, if we do not integrate the GNU compilers with our IDE, do we still need a license to distribute the GNU compiler on our CD with our products?

Once we do integrate the GNU compiler into our IDE, can we distribute it with our IDE without being forced by the GPL to make our IDE source code public?

I understand any changes we make to the GNU compiler must remain public, but if we integrate the GNU compiler into our IDE, where does the public GNU software stop and our private software start?

WindRiver Systems is the leading embedded software company. They have the GNU compiler and GNU debugger integrated into their IDE. What type of license do they have?
