I guess a different way to phrase Mark's question is:
a) Can the new C++ EH ABI
(http://reality.sgi.com/dehnert_engr/cxx/abi-eh.html) be
implemented on top of the dwarf2 unwinding information?
b) Is there any value in defining psABI bindings of that scheme on
other targets? Of course, the biggest possible advantage of such a
specification would be if other vendors would be willing to also
support such unwinding mechanisms.
The other bits and pieces of the new C++ ABI are quite
target-independent (as they use the base psABI for each processor); so
potential use of the ABI as a platform standard beyond ia64 really
depends on agreements on exception handling.
