compiling libstdc++/libg++ 2.8.1.1 with egcs-1.1.1?

The subject is the question:
Can I compile libstdc++/libg++ 2.8.1.1 with egcs-1.1.1?
I tried it on an m68k Linux system and it stopped with
errors. IF it's supposed to be possible I can get
the exact error.
